Reggae Girlz captain Khadija “Bunny” Shaw returned atop the scorers’ table of the Women’s Super League (WSL) in England, after netting the winner in Manchester City’s 1-0 victory over West Ham ladies at Chigwell Construction Stadium, London on Sunday.
Shaw netted the all-important goal in minute 50 to seal the deal for City against the ‘Lady hammers’, which was the Jamaican’s ninth league goal in 10 games this season.
Shaw had reigned atop the scorer’s list over the last two months before briefly being displaced by Aston Villa’s Rachel Daly last week after being denied in her last two games.
The third time proved to be the charm for the talismanic forward as she was restored to the summit alongside Daly with nine goals each however with more assists to her name and a superior goals-per-game average.
The win which is City’s fifth in six games consolidates fourth place as they remain in close pursuit of the top three.
Manchester United and Arsenal Women who are second and third place respectively with 25 points are now just ahead by three following Sunday’s results in the league.
Shaw is next set to be in action on Wednesday when City tackles the Leicester City of the WSL Cup where they are current Group B leaders with a maximum of nine points from their games.
