The 17-year-old suspect linked to the fatal stabbing of 16-year-old Michion Campbell last Thursday has been formally charged. The accused was this afternoon charged with murder following an interview in the presence of her attorney Kymberli Whittaker.

Reports indicate that around 2:45 p.m., both students were engaged in a heated dispute which escalated into a knife wielding brawl.

It is understood that during the fight, Campbell was stabbed to the left side of her neck as well as the left side of her forehead while the accused received injuries to her wrist.

The circumstances which led to the brawl however have not been disclosed.

Both girls were later transported to hospital where Campbell was pronounced dead while the suspect was treated for minor abrasions and later released in police custody.

As it now stands, the accused is slated to appear before the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on Friday to answer to the aforementioned charge.
