Organizers of the KingstOOn Animation Conference and Film Festival have selected the finalists in four categories — Concept, Storyboard, Character Design and Caribbean Short Film.

The Film Festival will highlight top selections in the animated film competition, as well as, the best films of 2019, during the virtual event, scheduled to take place from April 21-25.

The competitions drew participation from 103 countries during its last staging and this year attracted over 2000 global entries, from 105 countries — the most ever in the history of the event.

The KingstOOn 2021 Animation Conference and Film Festival, is an initiative of the Office of the Prime Minister’s Youth Employment in the Digital and Animation Industries (“YEDAI”) Project, in collaboration with the World Bank.

The US$20 million YEDAI Project, funded by a loan from the World Bank to the Government of Jamaica to provide training and employment opportunities for young Jamaicans in the digital and animation industries.

This year’s event will also include keynote presentations by globally renowned industry professionals from companies such as Disney, Netflix, Sony Animation, Nickelodeon, Hit Entertainment, Pixar, Sesame Street, HiT Entertainment and Lion Forge.

There will also be masterclasses on topics such as financing and co-productions; a boot camp on creating the perfect pitch for investors, distributors and broadcasters; and discussions on global industry trends. Animators and creatives are expected to benefit from other activities such as panel discussions; business matchmaking and networking; a virtual expo; and a film festival featuring diverse animated content.
