Jamaica’s Olympic diver Yona Knight-Wisdom, continues to represent the country globally, after claiming the silver medal in the 3 meters diving event at the Canada Grand Cup, Calgary, Canada on the weekend.
The championships is part of the North American leg of the FINA Diving Grand Prix.
The British- Jamaican, who represented Jamaica at both the Rio and Tokyo Olympics, gave another strong series of dives to score 437.75, just one point shy of the gold medal in the event.
The competition was won by Brittan’s Jordan Houlden, who successfully executed Forward 4 ½ Somersaults and Tuck with a limited splash for the narrow win, after an overall score of 438.75 points
The Jamaican took to Instagram to share accomplishments and expressed content with the result as he continues his journey to the Paris Olympic qualification.
“silver at Canada Cup 🥈 just 1.35 away from 1st but what a week it’s been 🥵 thanks so much to Igor for the energy and guidance” he posted under a picture with his medal and other medalists.
Knight-Wisdom, who made history as the first Jamaican diver to qualify for a Summer Olympic Games in 2016, linked up with another Olympic prospect in Yohan-Eskrick-Parkinson.
The pair got some well-needed practice in synchronized diving and could likely feature Jamaica’s first ever synchronize diving team.
