Laden Pleads Guilty to Gun Charges, Set for Court on Monday

Okeefe Aarons, more popularly known as Laden, has pleaded guilty to charges of illegal possession of a firearm and illegal possession of ammunition in the St Elizabeth Circuit Court on Monday afternoon.

The artiste, 33, and two others, including a 16-year-old, were held on October 28 after the black Mercedes Benz they were travelling in was signalled to stop by law enforcers in Cheapside, St Elizabeth.

Laden, whom it is alleged was the driver, disobeyed the police’s order and sped off. A chase ensued.

It is also alleged that during the chase, an object was thrown from the sunroof of the vehicle. When the police caught up with the vehicle, the occupants were taken back to the site, where a firearm was discovered.

Laden is set to be sentenced on December 15.

The other two accused were acquitted of gun charges.

Laden catapulted into the limelight in through the Digicel Rising Stars talent show. However, he got his most notable push when he joined Big Ship Records.

He is known for hits including Time To Shine and Working Hard.
