Miss St Catherine Festival Queen, 21-year-old law student Audrene Cameron is the 2023 Jamaica Festival Queen and now an official cultural ambassador.
She was crowned on Emancipation Day at the National Indoor Sports Centre, in St Andrew during the grand coronation produced by media & communications Consultant Roxene Nickle through the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC).
Cameron won a slew of prizes and $800,000 in cash.
Meanwhile, 2nd runner-up went to Erickay Chambers from Trelawny won $300,000, and 1st runner-up was Jhanielle Powell from Kingston and St Andrew who won $400,000.
The 2023 Festival Queen staging according to members of the Culture Ministry is the largest it has ever seen although Festival Queen is the most supported event in the long list of events when it comes to cultural festivals.
A jam-packed audience it was; filled with supporters from 14 parishes and visitors from across the world. The pageant was also streamed live.
The event was engulfed by festival songs throughout the years representing Jamaica’s 61 years of independence and in cohesion with our emancipation.
Also, the audience was treated to an innovative talent show from the ladies and a special performance from Richie Stephens.
Audrene Cameron will serve as Jamaica’s Festival Queen until August 1, 2024.
