Lead singer of roots reggae group Mighty Diamonds, Tabby Diamond has died following a drive-by shooting, which occurred on McKinley Crescent in Kingston minutes before 10 last evening.
Three other individuals were also injured in the attack.
According to police reports, the 67-year-old singer Donald Orlando Shaw was among a group of people who were gathered in a section of the community when gunmen opened fire from a passing motor vehicle.
Subsequently, both Shaw and an unidentified individual were killed in the melee.
Since the news of Shaw’s passing, scores of fans and members of the music fraternity have taken to social to relay condolences and issue an appeal to end gun violence.

“I just hope that the NOBODY who murdered him is swiftly brought to justice. This is the most shocking murder in reggae music since they killed Peter Tosh. If you don’t know the Mighty Diamonds’ music and, like reggae, go on YouTube and search for them and enjoy. R.I.P.” @gordyr tweeted.
The Award-winning group is known for hits such as ‘Have Mercy, Pass the Kutchie, and I Need a Roof.
Subsequent investigations are now ongoing.
