Leon Bailey kicks off Villa return on a successful note

National senior Reggae Boyz Striker Leon Bailey, kick started preparations for the 2022 Premier league season with a goal and an assist for Aston Villa in their 4-0 thrashing of league 2 team Walsall FC in a preseason game on Saturday.

Bailey,24, opened scoring for the ‘Villans’ eight minutes into the game after letting fly a rocket into the roof the Walsall net, following a perfectly time volley courtesy of a headed-on pass by Kesla.

The Jamaican looked supreme upfront and fully healthy and proved to be a menace for the opposition, making several threatening runs along with his trademark dazzling feet down the flanks to open up the Walsall’s defense.

Bailey, who opened scoring turned provider for the second, slipping the ball to through to Cameron Archer who finished off proceedings in the 38th minute to double Villa’s Lead before the half time break.

 It was a relatively routine outing the for the London team as they added two more in the second half.

England international Ollie Watkins made it 3-0 in the 54th minute before Douglas Luiz added Villa’s fourth in minute 70 to complete a successful start for the Steven Gerrard’s team.

This is the first of five preseason games for the EPL team which will also include matches against Leeds and Manchester United.
