Electrifying Reggae Boyz forward Leon Bailey is expected to create more excitement on the field Thursday when his Aston Villa team faces off against Manchester United in the third round of the EFL Cup at Old Trafford.
It will be the second time both teams will be clashing with each other in three days following Villa’s 3-1 dismissal of United on Sunday at Villa Park.
Bailey who was at the heart of that win with a standout performance including a goal to boot, will be looking to double up against the Red Devils in the own home.
The Jamaican who has been in a revived form in his last few games seems to know how to score against the English Football giants having also previously scored at Old Trafford to secure a dramatic 2-2 draw in their pre-season friendly on July 23.
In fact, the 25-year-old has developed a credible record against the two Manchester Clubs as he netted against the current champions Manchester City this campaign.
In the September fixture, the Reggae Boy, again bagged the match-saving equalizer in their 1-1 result at Villa Park.
It will be that tenacity to find and execute the opportunities to hurt the “big boys” that new manager Unai Emery will be hoping Bailey will express once more, as they seek to utilize the mental advantage to again overcome their opposition.
Bailey who is not part of the Reggae Boyz delegation who drew 1-1 with Cameroon in their international friendly on Wednesday (November 9), will no doubt be eager to capitalize on the remaining club fixtures to further improve his ahead of the break for Qatar-hosted World Cup later this month.
