Football star Robert Lewandowski netted a hattrick as Barcelona beat Alaves 3-0 to maintain their spot atop the La Liga standings on Sunday.
Lewandoski’s goals came in the first half as the Catalans dictated proceedings in the opening 45 minutes.
The Poland Captain needed seven minutes to break the deadlock after outjumping his marker before delivering a powerful header into the goal from a Raphina freekick to make it 1-0.
Lewa’s second goal was again courtesy of Raphina after the Brazilian showed excellent skills to manoeuvre around the defenders at the touchline before slipping a through pass to the Polish striker for his brace in the 22nd minute.
Lewandoski then completed his hattrick ten minutes later after latching onto an Eric Garcia pass inside the box with an off-balance shot. Despite lacking pace, the shot had enough force to trickle past the keeper and secure Barca’s third of the half.
Despite commanding the first half, ‘Barca’ was unable to add to their tally as the score remained unchanged at the final whistle, which confirmed the points for the former champs.
The result sees Barcelona moving to 24 points, three points clear of rivals Real Madrid on 21.
