Lionel Messi was reaffirmed as the best men’s football player in the world after capturing the 2024 FIFA Best Award during their ceremony in London on Monday.
The win comes as no surprise to many as he has maintained his stellar post-World Cup form, bagging nine goals for Paris Saint Germaine (PSG), as they won the French Ligue 1 title and ten goals in seven appearances for his new club Inter Miami, helping them lift the inaugural Leagues Cup.
The award also represents a complete trophy haul for the Argentina Captain, who clinched a record eighth Ballon d’Or award last year.
It was also a repeat in the order of Ballon d’Ors as former PSG teammate Kylian Mbappe and Manchester City star Erling Haaland were voted first and second runners-up, respectively.
The three were also named among the FIFApro’s men’s Best XI team.
