Liverpool kept the pressure high on their shot at a Champions League finish this season after clipping Brentford 1-0 at Anfield to go within two points of the top four on Saturday.

Mo Salah’s 13-minute goal did enough for Liverpool to register their fourth consecutive win on the trot as they continue their revived kick in the closing stages of the season.

With Manchester United dropping points against Brighton and Hove Albion midweek, Saturday’s win for the Reds sharpens their prospects of piping the Manchester club for that vital fourth place.

That Champions League push will, however, be contingent on the result of United’s game against Westham on Sunday.

 Man U, who still has two games in hand, will be seeking a win to add a buffer between themselves and the closely pursuing Liverpool, as they try to sure up fourth place heading into their crucial final set of games.

In the other fixture of the day, league champions Manchester City, have taken a step closer to retaining their trophy, following a 2-1 win over Leeds United at the Etihad Stadium.

Goals from Ikay Gundogan secured all the points for City as they move four points clear of second place Arsenal with four games remaining.
