Speculation over the future of ace Liverpool striker Mohamed Salah can now be put to bed, after the player signed a contract extension which sees him remain at Anfield for the immediate future.
The new deal which was revealed by the club on Friday morning is said to be two-year extension. This means that Salah who was entering into the final year of his previous deal will be remain a Red until at least 2025.
In statement Salah expressed his delight in the new deal:
“I’m so happy, it takes some time to renew the contracts – but now I feel great and also excited to win all the trophies with the club here at Liverpool”.
“It’s a happy day for everyone. Finally, everything is done, we have the contract signed”, Salah said.
Uncertainty over the forward’s stay was ripe following the reported impasse between the player and the club over terms of a new deal. With the departure of fellow striker Sadio Mane last month that unease grew about Salah’s decision.
The Egypt captain who has been a talismanic figure for Jurgen Klopp over the last five years had already shared he would remain at the club for remaining year of his contract. But remained mum on whether or not negotiations have been going smooth.
Now, with Salah locked in for three more seasons it adds stability as the former champions will have provided that experienced figure for new signee Darwin Nunez upfront.
The Reds who also saw the departure of Divock Origi and Takumi Minamino have also added new recruits Fabio Carvalho and Calvin Ramsay as they aim to make another charge for four titles next season.
