Precious teen sprinter Jamaica’s Brianna Lyston, will have her sights set on Gold, when she lines up in the finals of the women’s 200m at the World Athletics U-20 Championships in Cai, Colombia on Friday.

Lyston along with teammate Alana Reid, will be representing Jamaica’s medal hunt in the event’s grand finale in Cali.

A major performance is expected by Lyston, who has looked comfortable through the rounds and relatively unchallenged on her quest to take top honors.

The Louisiana State University (LSU) bound athlete who has a season’s best of 22.53 seconds, has shown to be the class among the field and is favored to claim the gold in the event.

Lyston, will be looking to validate that prospect when she takes her blocks in lane six; a lane which has so far returned good tidings for the Jamaican in these championships.

Teammate Reid who posted a personal record -23.16 seconds in the semi-finals, seems to be peaking at the perfect time and is also expected to challenge for a podium spot, running from lane 8 having the third fastest time among the finalists.

Jamaica who claimed the women’s 100m title in a championship record, courtesy of the mercurial Tina Clayton on Wednesday, will be looking to complete the sprint sweep in Colombia and extend the country’s compete reign in female sprinting.
