A Frenchman has reportedly offered to split a €500,000 lottery jackpot with homeless thieves who used his stolen credit card to buy the winning ticket.

According to reports, the man, identified as Jean David, received a notification that his credit card, which was among the items inside his wallet that were stolen from his backpack in his car, was used to make a small purchase at a convenience store before he was able to block the card.

Upon his visit to the store, he learned that the man appeared homeless and had bought the tickets before the card’s blocking, he appeared to be unaware of the PIN. This aroused the clerk’s suspicions, which later spooked them off.

In a bizarre twist of fortune literally, one of the scratched of tickets left behind by the thieves turned out out to be the jackpot winner of €500,000 ($525,000).

It’s further understood that instead of selfishly relishing in his newfound wealth, he, however, sent an unexpected appeal to the thieves to come forward so he could share the fortune which they aided in making possible.
