Xavier Thompson, otherwise called ‘Fire’, 34, of Mahoe Drive, Kingston 11 was charged for breaches of the Firearms and Offences Against the Person acts on Saturday, January 9.

Thompson was charged with Assault at Common Law, Illegal Possession of Firearm and Illegal Possession of Ammunition.

The charges stem from an incident on Wednesday, December 16 in which it is alleged that he and another man opened gunfire at a Police team that attempted to accost them. Thompson was shot and injured during the confrontation and was assisted to the hospital, where he was admitted under police guard; he was later charged. The other man fled the scene.
