Manchester City made its sixth consecutive win in the Women’s Super League (WSL) after their 3-1 victory over Brighton Hove Albion on Sunday.

Khadija Shaw, who currently tops the league with goals, was not on the scoresheet for the first time in three games, however, created some scoring chances for the lady citizens to with menacing runs inside the Brighton area.

Despite Shaw being kept off the scoresheet this time around teammates Julie Blakstad and Laura Coombs took on that responsibility well to keep the momentum of the Manchester club alive.

Blakstad scored in the 19th minute to double City’s lead following an 11th-minute own goal from Brighton’s Veatriki Sarri.

It then took Coombs eight minutes to triple their misery as she displayed brilliance to weave her way inside the 18-yard box before curling a shot toward the keeper’s far post to make it 3.

Despite Lee Guem-min pulling a late consolation goal back in the 93rd minute, it did little to disturb the direction of where the three points were heading.

The win keeps them fourth in the standings with 18 points from eight games.

Three points adrift of Arsenal and Manchester United who are both tied on 21 points for second and third respectively.

Only Chelsea with 24 points share a similar form currently with at least five successive.
