Launch mode was fully active in Monaco on Wednesday as ‘Mommy Rocket’ Shelly Fraser-Pryce, sped to a mesmerizing 10.62 seconds World-lead, to comfortably win the Diamond League meet in France.

Fraser-Pryce, who came into the race with the previous top three times this season, relegated them lower down the order of best times this year following a scorcher which was also a meet record.

The World champ’s time of 10.62s knocked a staggering .04seconds off her own previous world lead of 10.66s set in Poland on Saturday and .05seconds off her 10.67s time in Hungary on Monday. The feat further extending her record of most sub-10.70s clocking’s in history to seven.

There were more celebrations for Jamaicans after the race as 200m World Champ; Sherika Jackson, was pulled into a lifetime best. Jackson who was also expected to deliver a commanding performance posted a sizzling 10.71 personal record, as she continues to hover just above that 10.6 threshold over the 100m.

The race marks the third time World champ 100m silver medalist is lowering her personal record.

In an event which was colored by records, two additional personal bests were set in its conclusion.

Third placed Marie Josee Talou, sped to a new National and African(area) record of 10.72seconds with America’s Aleia Hobbs also stopping the clock in a personal best effort of 10.81s.  for fourth.

The event yet again demonstrates Jamaica’s unwavering and ever tightening grasp on female sprinting as the country’s top female athletes continue to rewrite the record books.
