After 45 years of being a part of Jamaica’s musical history, reggae veteran Nadine Sutherland is considering an album before the end of 2024.
December 2024 marks 45 years since she won the Tastee Talent Contest, becoming the first ever winner. She was then nurtured by reggae King Bob Marley in the 80s and then went on to become a successful dancehall artiste in the 1990s.
When asked what to expect for 2024, she said “More songs and videos. Hopefully a big bashment show for the 45th celebration and an album”
Over the weekend the reggae veteran sparked talks of her being married after she posted a photo dressed in a wedding dress, however, it was a behind-the-scenes promotional shot for a song titled “Can’t Stop Me From Smiling” that will be part of her next album.
The veteran artiste informed Sleek that she did not anticipate a viral moment from the pic however she is grateful.

The song, “Can’t Stop Me From Smiling” was inspired by romantic relationships and was both written and produced by Miguel Smith.
Sutherland says “The concept of the song is a conversation, between 2 lovers – one lover being authentic and upfront saying to the other, this is who I am, stop weaponizing the information about my past to put me down.”
She also explains that the song is for persons who are victims of abuse in a relationship.
The video is set to be released on Saturday.
Sutherland is, however, tight-lipped about the name of the album and when in 2024 she will drop it.
