Nick Cannon announced on Tuesday that his youngest child, 5-month-old Zen, died of a brain tumor over the weekend.

The TV personality made the announcement on The Nick Cannon Show.

Zen, whom Cannon and Alyssa Scott welcomed in June, had hydrocephalus, as well as brain cancer.

Nick said he and Alyssa noticed their son’s irregular breathing and head enlargement and decided to go in for a routine checkup. After a malignant tumor was discovered, Zen underwent surgery and a shunt procedure to drain the fluid. Unfortunately, Zen’s tumor continued to grow, and by Thanksgiving, his condition took a turn for the worse.

“This weekend I made an effort to spend the most quality time with Zen. We woke up on Sunday and went to the ocean with him and Alyssa and then I had to fly back to New York for the show,” Cannon said. “I got a call on my way to the airport to head back to Zen,” he shared.
