Nicki Minaj is officially a record label owner. The rapper announced that she has established her imprint during her Queen Radio podcast on Friday, with the label’s first set of artistes revealed.
Minaj who premiered her highly anticipated single ‘Red Ruby Da Sleeze’ on Friday added excitement to its release with the news of the record company.
“I have a record label now,” Minaj said, teasing that the company’s name will be revealed at a later date. “When I get behind an artist, y’all know how I do sh—t for people that’s not even signed to me. Imagine what I’ma do for the ones that’s signed.”
Speaking of signees, It was revealed that the new label’s artist roster includes Nana Fofie, Tate Kobang, Rico Danna, and London Hill.
Hill previously featured on her ‘fine nine’ remix to Skeng’s Likkle Miss.
Minaj told listeners that she was in dialogue with Republic Records co-president Wendy Goldstein, who was encouraging her to make the label announcement during the program.
“I said, ‘Wendy, we got to do this big. I’m a female; you a female, mamma. You got to do this right. We gotta do it right. I don’t want no little itty-bitty ting ting. I want to do it right,’” the rapper said.
Her new label will also partner with Republic Records.
While the name of the label remains under wraps, some of the artists who have been revealed have begun toasting to the new venture, after being tagged on her Instagram.
Dancehall artiste Skeng Don is also rumored to be part of her new imprint however, it has yet to be officially confirmed.
In the meantime, her ‘Red Ruby Da Sleeze’ has since taken over the number 1 spot on iTunes in several countries including the U S since its release on Friday.
