The organizers of Miss Jamaica World have confirmed that there will be no pageant this year, this comes as the year is about to end and Shanique Singh, who was crowned the winner of the 2022 staging is to represent Jamaica on December 8, 2023.
According to co-franchise owner Dahlia Harris, this year will commemorate 60 years since Jamaica and the Caribbean first won the Miss World title with Carol Joan Crawford in 1963.
This history shows that Jamaica is well decorated as we have had a few more wins of the crown: 2nd was Cindy Breakspeare in 1976. Lisa Hanna, became the third Jamaican to win the coveted title, in 1993 and was named the most beautiful woman in the world that year and one of in 1994. Jamaica last won the title in 2019 when Toni-Ann Singh brought home the crown.
Toni-Ann Singh was the longest reigning queen in history due to the postponement of the 70th Miss World competition during the peak of the coronavirus pandemic.
She said the Miss Ja World team is planning several events to celebrate this major milestone and come 2024 they will go back to selecting the best woman to represent Jamaica.
However, Shanique Singh will rep the black green, and gold at the 71st edition of the Miss World pageant to be held at Kashmir International Convention Centre in Srinagar, India, this December.
