The rare celestial occurrence where up to seven planets in the earth’s solar system are projected to be aligned -(Planetary Alignment ) and visible to the naked eye is set to begin aligning on Saturday.

The highly anticipated event is projected to run from January 25 to February 28, with the majority of the planets on “display” in an eye-catching “Parade” by our planetary neighbours.

January’s planetary alignment will include Mars, Jupiter, Saturn and Venus, which will all be simultaneously visible to the naked eye. While Neptune and Uranus will be there, they won’t easily seen like the others.

“These multi-planet viewing opportunities aren’t super rare, but they don’t happen every year, so it’s worth checking it out,” according to NASA’s January night sky notes.

“The best viewing for January’s planetary parade is about 90 minutes after sunset, in as dark and clear a spot” according to the Weather Channel.

 Commenting on the 2025 feat- Senior scientist with the Planetary Science Institute Pamela Gay said;

While they’re closest in late January, this alignment is going take time to fall apart. And this means that if you go out night after night, you’re going to see where Venus and Saturn are next to each other, slowly changing as they drift apart. And, and as you watch, you can actually see these slight changes in all the planet’s positions.”
