Hansel Parchment

The 110m Hurdles Olympic Champion Hansel Parchment, posted a season’s best effort of 13.08 seconds to finish third in the Monaco diamond league in France on Wednesday.

Running for the first time since pulling out of the finals of Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, Parchment had to fight his way his back into podium contention after a sluggish start at the gun.

The Jamaican looked less than his usually sharp self and was left a big back at the first three hurdles however, maintained composure in a show of class, as he gradually reeled in the field over the last three hurdles.

Despite finishing like a bullet, he was however off by a stride and-a-half and missed out on seriously challenging for the top honors in a close finish. The time ironically is identical to the gold medal run in the Commonwealth finals.

The race was won by USA’s Grant Holloway who set a season’s best 12.99 seconds to turn around his loss to another Jamaican CWG champ Rasheed Broadbell.

US’ Trey Cunningham posted 13.02s for the second place in that encounter.

The next stop on the diamond league calendar is set for Lausanne Switzerland.
