Minister of National Security, Horace Chang announced that there will be community-wide removal of Zinc in the August Town area. Approximately 0.8 miles of zinc will be removed and concrete dividers will be erected.

Areas that will be a part of this program are Cemetery Road, Africa Gardens, Bedward Gardens, June Road, Barrett Drive, August Town main road, and Bryce Hill main road. 

This plan was disclosed in the August Town Community Zone Social Intervention Ministry Paper, which was submitted in the House of Representatives disclosed by JIS News.

August town is one of the crime hotspots in Jamaica and has had a Zone of Special Operations (ZOSO) since last year.
