Police prevent killings in Manchester

Swift action by the Manchester Police is believed to have prevented gunmen from carrying out multiple killings in the parish on Sunday December 20, 2020.

On Sunday at about 2:30 pm, the Mandeville Police received intelligence that a group of men were on their way to commit murder(s) in the Greenvale Community. Through the immediate action of the police, the gunmen were intercepted at a section of the Winston Jones High Way near the Greenvale community.

The gunmen challenged the police and a shoot-out ensued. An unidentified gunman was fatally shot and another gunman was arrested. One firearm seized during the incident. Two Police officers were also shot and injured by the gunman. They were taken to hospital where they received treatment. The other gunman is currently at hospital for treatment under police guard.
