The St James police have launched a probe into the suspected case of a murder-suicide involving a couple in Cambridge, St James on Tuesday.

The deceased has been identified as Robert Stewart, of Ramtallie Boulevard at Cornwall Court in the parish, and Alicia Smithson of Senior District in Hanover.

It is understood that the couple was last seen at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.

Further reports outlined that numerous calls were made to Smithson by a family member but went unanswered. Subsequently, the family member and residents rushed to the premises on Tuesday where they discovered her tied to a bed.

Moments after that discovery was made, residents found Stewart hanging from a piece of rope.

Since then, an investigation has been launched to ascertain the motive behind both deaths.
