Jamaica will be present at the 2022 Rugby Sevens World Cup after they secured qualification by defeating Bermuda in the semi finals of the Rugby Americas’ Nations seven qualifiers in Bahamas on Sunday.
The ‘Reggae Crocs’ who survived a challenging Cayman Islands 22-14 in the quarter finals were more imposing against the Bermudans in the semi-finals as they bossed that crucial fixture 24-5.
The win ensured that Jamaica stamped their ticket to the World Cup by virtue of being a finalist in the RAN qualifiers along with Canada the other finalist.
Despite going down 29-12 to the strong Canadian contingent it was essentially in consequential to the overall result.
With the qualification of the ‘Reggae Crocs’ to the Rugby 7’s they also qualified for the Commonwealth games.
Jamaica made a historic Rugby World Cup 7’s debut in 2018 edition to become the first Caribbean country to participate in the tournament.
The 2022 Rugby Sevens World Cup is set to be played in South Africa in September.
