Reggae Girlz striker Paige Bailey-Gayle marked her Newcastle debut with two goals as they beat Wolverhampton Wanderers Ladies 3-0 in the Women’s National League, Northern Premier Divison on Sunday.
Bailey-Gayle, who completed her move to the club on Wednesday, took just 39 minutes to open her account at Newcastle.
The Jamaican running into the box showed awareness and composure in front of the goal to tap in a cross from teammate Beth Lumsden from the right flank to make it 1-0 just before halftime.
The Reggae Girl continued to return dividends for her new club after doubling Newcastle’s lead with her second goal of the game in minute 73 as the league leaders began to tighten the screws on their opponents.
Bailey-Gayle showed excellent skill to evade the surrounding defenders before launching her shot into the back of the net making it 2-0.
Newcastle wrapped up the win following extra time after Jasmine Mquade scored their third goal in the 93rd minute for a 3-0 score line and three points.
The win which is their 11th in 13 games, sees the “Lady Magpies” maintain their lead atop the standings with 34 points, four clear of second place Nottingham Forrest Women on 30.
