High-level international women’s football is set to make a return to the Jamaican soil in November. Reports are that Caribbean Queen Reggae Girlz is set to host the South American team Paraguay in a double fixture between Kingston and Montego Bay.
The fixtures which were officially announced by the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) on Monday via their social media pages, will kick off on November 10 at the Montego Bay Sports Complex, St James, before switching to the National Stadium, Kingston on November 13.
It will be the first home game for the World Cup-bound Reggae Girlz team since October of 2021 when they dismissed the Dominican Republic 5-1 in their final CONCACAF women’s championships group C game at Sabina Park.
The fixtures which were hinted at last week by Federation president Michael Rickets, seem to be part of a series of planned friendlies for the national programs starting November with the Reggae Boyz, also set to be in action against Cameroon on November 9 in an away game.
Both teams will have a busy 2023 with the Girlz using these fixtures as valuable experiences for the squad ahead of their World Cup appearance in New Zealand.
New Reggae Boyz head Heimir Hallgrímsson will also relish the opportunity to evaluate his charges ahead of the continuation of the CONCACAF Nations as well as the Gold Cup.
