One of Jamaica’s most promising reggae artistes, Samory-Tour Frazer, more popularly known as Samory-I, is counting his blessings as he finds happiness and peace through the birth of his son to whom he has dedicated his new album titled “Strength”.

In an interview with SLEEK Ent, Samory-I said his new album means a lot to him.
He said, “The reason for the name “Strength” is that my son rose me from depression so I can complete this body of work.”

For him, “Strength” represents hope and the willpower to keep striving for greatness. Despite his upbringing in a rough Kingston neighbourhood, Samory would sing in church and at school and since then, music has been his ‘vehicle’ of choice.

His 11-song album “Strength” embodies the man he is and features collaborations with Lila Ike, Mortimer, Jesse Royal, Kabaka Pyramid, and Capleton produced by Winta James of Overstand Records.

The reggae singer said he wants the album to fall on the ears of “People who are depressed, who feel like hope is gone. I want them to rise out of depression with a renewed strength.”

He explained, “The project has a diverse collection of songs that speaks to different issues and emotions. I think there is a song for everyone on it.”

One such song is “Outside” which features singer Lila Iké, with additional vocals from selector Boom Boom.

Even though Samory-I and Lila Iké are from different communities, they share a similar upbringing and connection over struggles.

“Outside” is the first song to be released from the album and is already a favorite among fans.

The album was officially released on Friday and is available on all digital platforms.

However, the launch has been postponed because of the current weather conditions facing Jamaica.
