International Reggae sensation YG Marley marked his Reggae Sumfest debut with a captivating performance, to underscore his status as a top-tier music act during the festival’s opening night at Catherine Hall, Montego Bay.
YG who was Friday night’s headline act, verified that billing as he commanded the audience’s attention from his entrance to exit as fans, many of whom were seeing his performance live for the first time, remained hooked to each song.
He was measured in his performance, as he showed stage presence and composure in a compelling set that included cameos from his mother- Hip-Hop/R&B icon Lauryn Hill and dancehall star Jahshii much to the delight of the predominately Jamaican crowd.
Lauryn Hill treated the crowd to a mini-set of hit-laced classics from her individual and Fugees catalogue, which strongly resonated across demographics.
While it was YG’s second time on a Jamaican stage, it felt like a coming home performance for the billboard-chartering singer as he continued to lead the international reggae revival.
