The Senior JDF officer who is slated to face a disciplinary hearing in connection to multiple reports of sexual assaults involving has returned to the island. It is understood that the accused in question returned to the island last week.
This confirmation was given by army spokesman Lieutenant Nathan Curtis in an email that all correspondents linked to the ordeal are present and the issue will move accordingly.
Two weeks ago, the accused in question was recalled from an overseas training after copious reports surfaced from female officers that he was involved in numerous sexual assault scandals.
As such, Chief of Defence Staff Rear Admiral Antonette Wemyss Gorman vowed that she would allow the various channels within the JDF and external parties to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter.
The JDF also vowed via a written statement that it would remain keen on protecting the confidentiality of the complainants in an effort to reduce legal mismanagement or victimization.
“I have been strident in my stance against acts against sexual harassment involving any service member within the JDF regardless of their gender. The current situation involving multiple reports of sexual allegations against the accused is an indication that service members recognize that I am serious against any breach against this or any other policy whether verbal, non-verbal, physical, written, visual or graphic” Rear Admiral Wemyss Gorman outlined.
