The Meteorological Service of Jamaica has outlined that the severe weather alert warning for the island will remain in effect despite the minimal change in the area of showers and thunderstorms associated with the Tropical Wave over the southeastern Caribbean.
The met service also stated in its latest bulletin that the wave has the potential to develop into a tropical depression or tropical storm in the coming days.
Additionally, unstable weather conditions are expected to spread over the Caribbean waters south of Jamaica within the next three to four days as the system moves westward.
Fishermen who frequent the cays and banks are also advised to evacuate posthaste and return to mainland.
Furthermore, craft operators are being reminded to return to port while small craft operators who are in port are being reminded not to venture until advised to do otherwise.
