American sprint sensation Sha’Carri Richardson says she in the process of healing after recently ending an alleged abusive relationship with a female Jamaican sprinter.
Richardson took to Instagram on Sunday to vent her feelings about her latest debacle alleging that she was a victim of homophobic abuse.
The American 100 meters champion said in her insta-story: “I was in a relationship with a Jamaican Athlete that never cared about me from the jump”.
“I was abused stole from yet protected her from Judgment of her country and family while they dragged me.” She continued adding: “I had to deal with Homophobic and so much more that I’m still healing from” she concluded.
The sprinter who was touted as American athletics’ answer to the imperious Jamaican dominance in female sprinting, has not been a threat since her rise to prominence and subsequent drug ban for use of Marijuana last year.
Richardson suddenly withdrew from Kip Keino Classic, Nairobi Kenya last week, where she was set to line up against reigning 100m Champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and has been MIA in a few other scheduled meets this season.
With the American yet to open her outdoor season and no clear sign as to when she will compete, it remains a guessing game as to whether or not she will be ready or interested in competing at the World Championships set for Eugen, Oregon In July.
