To avoid the risk of serving prison time, international star Shakira has reportedly reached a deal regarding her tax fraud case in Barcelona.

She reportedly told the presiding magistrate on Monday (November 20) that she had accepted an agreement with prosecutors and acknowledged six counts of failing to pay nearly $16 million in income taxes to the Spanish government over two years.

According to AP news, the agreement she has accepted will see her receive “A suspended three-year sentence and fines totaling $8 million, including one for nearly half a million dollars to have her sentence waived.”

While this is good, AP noted that the pop star’s legal record will state that she was found guilty of tax fraud.

The deal was done on the first day of Shakira’s tax fraud trial in Barcelona.
