National Senior Reggae Boyz striker Shamar Nicholson, copped his first major trophy for Russian Club Spartak Moscow after they beat Dynamo Moscow 2-1 to lift the Russian Cup on Sunday.
Goals from Aleksandr Sobolev and Quincy Promes in the 10th and the 72nd minute respectively made the difference for Spartak in the cup final.
Despite not being on Sunday’s scoresheet, Nicholson who has netted five times for the 12 appearances for the club this season was a constant menace in front of the Dynamo goal and created opportunities for his team to press for goals.
The Jamaican who came to the club in the January European transfer window has quickly become a fan favorite and one of the team’s leading attackers averaging almost a goal every two games since his arrival.
The triumph will be a major confidence boost for the former Boys Town standout as he sets his sights on national duties with the Reggae Boys next.
Nicholson was listed as part of the 23-man Reggae Boys squad which will line up for the CONCACAF nations league kick off against Suriname and Mexico next month.
