International recording artiste Shenseea has officially been certified gold in Canada for her single ‘Blessed’.
‘Shenyeng’ shared her plaque success with fans via her Instagram page with a picture of herself holding the certification, along with a caption of thanks to her fans.
“Blessed went GOLD in Canada 🇨🇦 Thank you to everyone who listened and played!”
The 2019 release, which features rapper Tyga was a charting hit that year, racking up over 58 million views to date. It was also added as a ‘bonus track’ on her debut project ‘Alpha’ which was released in March of this year.
The official gold status according to Music Canada (formerly Canadian Recording Industry Association (CRIA)) is to certify that an individual musical release, has registered the equivalent of at least 40,000 units in sales for that country.
With the success of ‘Blessed’, it is among the first strictly sales-driven plaques for the album with more expected to come, given the increased popularity of more recent songs.
She would have already earned her Billboard plaque for number two debut on the Reggae Billboard album charts.
The ‘Dolly’ singer who recently dropped the visuals for her single ‘R u that’ with rapper 21 Savage, has been at the forefront of breakthrough acts from Jamaica and among the go-to collaborators for fresh sounds.
Among these includes her Grammy-nominated effort on Ye’s- ‘Ok Ok pt 2’ as well as other Grammy-nominated work on Major Lazer’s recent release ‘Music is the Weapon’, to name a few.
She has also been unveiled as one of the major names for the Portugal Leg of the AfroNation festival which is set for July, as well as one of the headliners for this year’s return of Reggae Sumfest in Jamaica.
This comes off the back, of two successful performances in New York and Connecticut respectively with fellow Romeich managed artiste Ding Dong Ravers.
With her increasingly populated tour itinerary, it may only be a ‘matter of when and not if’, more plaques will be generated for not only Alpha but for other singles with the new audiences.
