Shenseea became the first female dancehall artiste in 17 years to chart on the Billboard Hot 100 with Ok Ok pt 2 at #11. She follows in the footsteps of early 2000’s artiste Miss Thing whose collaboration with Beenie Man on the iconic Dude peaked at #3.

Since the Sure Sure singer announced her switch to new manager Wassim Slaibly, CEO of XO Records and manager to The Weeknd, it has been full speed ahead. Most notably, her features (Yes, plural!) on American rapper Kanye West’s latest album Donda.

The features came as a shock to shenyengs but ultimately the loyal fanbase was delighted to see dancehall’s princess. In an all-black Balenciaga ensemble, the star stood comfortably on the stage at West’s final Donda listening party as her vocals on Pure Souls then Ok Ok pt 2 filled the Chicago stadium. Shenseea used the opportunity to show off her versatility and musical prowess with the sweet notes she delivered on Pure Souls differing from the fiery bars on Ok Ok pt 2.

This milestone will no doubt mark the first of many for the 25-year-old deejay. The world patiently waits for Shenseea’s debut album which the singer announced in 2020. Two singles from the project have already been released in Be Good and Run Run.
