Charges have reportedly been slapped against six Trinidad and Tobago nationals, in connection with the assault of Grenada’s Javelin World Champion Anderson Peters, during a boat ride brawl, which saw the athlete attacked and thrown overboard.
Royal Grenada Police Force (RGPF) said in a statement that the six men, who were all crew members of the vessel; Harbour Master, were involved in the incident on Wednesday night.
The men were all charged with one count each of grievous harm and stealing.
The statement also noted that; five of the six charged, were further charged for causing harm to Kiddon Peters, the brother of the Athlete.
It’s understood that the six, are scheduled to appear before the Magistrate court on Monday, however will remain in police custody until their appearance date.
Reports also assert that Peters’ legal team was successful in acquiring a warrant of arrest for the vessel, which is said to be owned by a Barbados-based company.
It’s understood that; official court documents sent to the Chief Immigration Officer, the Grenada Ports Authority, and Comptroller of Customs have declared that; the Harbour Master vessel should not be cleared for sailing until they individually receive instructions from the Acting Registrar of the Supreme Court.
The boat which is said to be owned by Tall Ship (Barbados) Inc, has been officially seized as part of a civil lawsuit involving the athlete.
