Deputy Commissioner of Police, Fitz Bailey, has pointed out that a total of six firearms have been seized during a joint military-police operation at the National Stadium East.

I’m on the weapons recovered yesterday including three rifles, three rounds of ammunition, and three firearms along with a number of assaulted rounds.

The operation which commenced yesterday at 2:30 pm, as pointed out by DCP Bailey, serves as a part of the Jamaica Constabulary Force’s (JCF) anti-crime, anti-gang strategy that will be used to curb the rising levels of crime in Jamaica.

DCP Bailey noted that the operation was carried out based on intelligence that was relayed.

“As part of our anti-crime, anti-gang strategies, we embarked on a number of initiatives, and about 2:30 yesterday, we started an intelligence-led operation at the Stadium East,” he shared. “Yesterday, we recovered three rounds, three rifles, and a number of assaulted rounds and about three or four magazines,” DCP Bailey noted.

“Ground was held last night by members of the security forces including members of the JDF and specialised forces including CTOC and we re-commenced our search this morning and we have recovered three firearms and a number of assaulted rounds,” DCP Bailey added.

He further noted that the operations will continue until every firearm is recovered.

“The operations will continue. We’re just taking a little break but we are going to make sure that every firearm is recovered. We have no doubt that we will succeed,” DCP Bailey noted.
