Dancehall star Skeng pays tribute to his mother with the release of his latest single titled “My Mada”

The track and its accompanying video which premiered on Sunday, delivered a simplistic yet potent message of gratitude and appreciation for the unwavering love of his mother despite a seemingly troublesome childhood.

The pinned comment of “Happy Birthday Mommy” indicates that the single was specially crafted as a birthday tribute on the weekend.

While the weekend would have orbited around Fathers, (Father’s Day weekend) the visuals which show Skeng with his own newborn, seemingly double as a reflective project as he navigates his own path as a parent.

This isn’t the first public show of appreciation by the ‘Ratty Gang’ boss to his mother who he surprised with a brand-new car last year. Skeng has publicly stated that his mother will be among the main beneficiaries of his success in music.

Skeng who got his major break in 2021 has since risen to become one of dancehall’s fastest risers with several singles charting both locally and globally.

The Nicki Minaj remix of Skeng’s record, “Likkle Miss” became a viral hit which saw him earn his first Billboard entry in October of 2022. The American rapper, Nicki further remixed the track with an all-female group of artistes and called it “Fine9” which also charted in several markets.

Both remixes have racked up 7.2 and 4 million views on YouTube respectively with the original track also exceeding 7.2 million streams to date.
