International Dancehall star Skillibeng and Reggae Sensation YG Marley’s impact continues to be reaffirmed after both acts were named among Apple Music’s top viral hits “Best Of 2024” Playlist.
The list, which includes songs from Country music sensation Shaboozey, rapper Megan Thee Stallion, R&B/Pop icon Beyoncé and Muni Long, sees the Jamaicans listed among the standout acts of the year.
“Skilli” who has been a go-to for collaborative singles over the past two years, made a list with one of the most infectious songs online via his collab with rapper Gunna on Tyla’s standout “Jump”.
The vibrant uptempo single, which became a viral sound largely due to Skill’s catchy “Original Gyal” intro was also a standout single from Tyla’s debut self-titled album.
YG Marley, undoubtedly one of the breakout global stars of 2024, was underlined by his monster smash “Praise Jah In The Moonlight”. The soulful, smooth and infectious Reggae release has been a playlist staple across genre charts and song mixes and sounds on social media.
The Bob Marley-sampled release, arguably an international song of the year contender, has gone gold in the US for sales of 500,000 units and remains a dominant presence on streaming platforms in addition to claiming 1 billion Spotify streams, underscoring its tag as a new age Reggae classic.
