Skip Marley’s hit collaboration Slow Down featuring R&B singer H.E.R. is the top R&B Song of 2020, according to the staff writers at Billboard.
The accolade was announced recently.
“You never know what’s missing until it’s there in front of you. Case in point: the inspired pairing of Skip Marley and H.E.R. on Slow Down. His and H.E.R.’s innate, soulful chemistry percolates throughout as Marley patiently implores his romantic interest to slow down and revel in their unfolding love story. Rounding out the magic is the track’s fresh, body-swaying fusion of reggae and R&B, culminating in Marley’s first No. 1 on Adult R&B Songs,”
Billboard commented.
The list, 10 Favorite R&B Songs from 2020, also includes Don’t Waste My Time by Usher, Do It by Chloe x Halle, Pick Up Your Feelings by Jazmine Sullivan and Forever Valentine by Charlie Wilson.
Slow Down is the first single from Marley’s Grammy-nominated EP Higher Place. The song charted on multiple Billboard charts including the R&B Songs, Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay, R&B Digital Song Sales, Rhythmic Airplay, R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Song Sales and R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay charts.
Slow Down was nominated for two Soul Train Music Awards last year, Best Collaboration and Video of the Year.
The song is nominated in the Best R&B Song category of the 63rd Grammy Awards. Marley also has a nod in the Best Reggae Album category for Higher Place.
