Social media influencer Kai Cenat has moved to distance himself from claims of not helping a woman claiming to have been raped by one of his friends at his house party.
On Thursday, a woman identified as TikToker Jovi Pena pinned a tweet about being raped at a New Year’s Eve Party hosted at Cenat’s home in New York.
In the tweet, she alleges that she was not getting help from “someone I thought to be a friend”.
She posted adding, “I asked for help and It’s not going anywhere so I’ve decided to take it to social media.”
In the thread, she noted that while at the party, she became very intoxicated and informed the influencer of her intention to leave.
It was further alleged that he had recommended she go into an upstairs bedroom and sleep for her safety given her state of inebriation.
It was then she alleged to have woken up to a man which was known to him sexually assaulting her.
In a series of later tweets, exposing the entire situation she insinuated his attempt to play down the incident or cover for his friend.
Cenat who’s known for his YouTube videos and twitch streams went live on Saturday morning to set the record straight as much he was allowed to regarding his involvement in the entire scenario.
The streamer in referencing the tweets shared attempted to recall how he became aware of the alleged assault and the moments which occurred afterward.
He also categorically denied any attempts to cover or dismiss her claims and even went on to share that he was the one who got the authorities involved to begin investigations.
Cenat also noted that when he confronted the individual whom he was acquainted with since high school about the allegations, to which the person shared his own confusion on the matter, eventually lead to him getting the police and his legal team involved.
Among the insinuations which seemingly drew Ms Penga’s ire was his delayed response which she seemingly took as a nonchalant response to her trauma, to which she later recanted.
Cenat addressed that post, also noting that he was advised by his legal team to stop all communication with the involved parties.
He also shared that she was only able to identify the person because he was the one who gave her his social media account afterward which she confirmed was the alleged suspect.
Cenat said he was advised not to bring the incident public given the status of the matter being an open investigation.
However, was given the green light after the alleged victim went online in an attempt to expose the situation.
