A 42-year-old man has been charged with last month’s murder of 60-year-old caretaker Oswald Valentine. The accused Nicholas Hutchinson was charged last evening following an interview in the presence of his attorney.

Reports indicate that on July 8, Mr. Valentine reportedly confronted Mr. Hutchinson about trespassing on his property. During the confrontation, a machete was used to injure Hutchinson.

A fight then ensued and both men fell to the ground; Hutchinson however escaped and went to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The police were later summoned and upon their arrival discovered Valentine with multiple chop wounds to his head. Valentine was then taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Hutchinson was later arrested and charged. In the interim, the accused is slated to return to court on Monday August 15.
