Sweden thrashed Azerbaijan 5-0 to record the widest margin of victory in an active matchday two of the European qualifiers on Monday.
Sweden, who was humbled 3-0 by Belgium in their opening group game, was more than comfortable against the Azerbaijan team in their second game.
Despite a reserved first half by the Swedes which yielded one goal courtesy of Emil Fosberg in the 38th minute, the second half delivered all the excitement with four more to their favor.
Goals from Viktor Gyokeres, Jasper Karlsson, and Anthony Elgana in the 79th,88th, and 89th minutes, added to a 65th-minute own goal by Bahlul Mustafazda as they secured their first points to move up to third in Group F.
Group leaders Austria made it two from two following a 2-1 win over Estonia in their second game.
2022 World Cup finalist France also added another stroke to the win column with a 1-0 victory to maintain their stay at the summit of Group B.
The Netherlands and Hungary both recorded 3-0 wins over Gibraltar and Bulgaria respectively, while Poland clipped Albania 1-0 with Serbia getting the better of Montenegro 2-0 in their encounters.
