Team Jamaica making headlines following Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony

Team Jamaica participating in the Winter Olympics was always going to grab attention, given our unique flavour, either through sports, entertainment value, and or team spirit, and of course the fact that it’s winter sports. However, it didn’t take long for the islanders to attract all eyes to their compact delegation of history makers.

Among early recognition of the influential island nation has received, is being been named among the countries with the best looks from the opening ceremony.

International media outlet Slate Magazine listed Jamaica as one of the top dressed teams to grace the winter games. The Magazine noted the colour and the vibrance of the team’s ensemble, which wasn’t a typical flag colorway and was a refreshing interpretation of the county’s national symbol.

Jamaica, of course, is renowned for its fashion eye-catching fashion and style statements and bold introductions, and they didn’t disappoint. Their vibrant attire mixed with accompanying dance moves and general excitement was clearly felt and transferred to live audiences as well competitors worldwide.

The team was also featured in the world-renowned New York Times newspaper, which likened the return of the Jamaicans to the Winer Olympics to the nostalgia of the Cool Runnings movie inspired by the historic 1988 introduction of Jamaica to the games.

Jamaica, of course, qualified a Four-Man bobsleigh team for the first time since that historic feat in Calgary, Canada.

The country was the first-ever Caribbean team to qualify for any Winter Olympics.
