A 17-year-old boy of Sheffield, Negril in Westmoreland has been charged with Illegal Possession of Firearm and Ammunition following an incident on Dawes Lane, Sheffield in the parish on Wednesday.

Reports from the Negril Police are that about 9:40 p.m., a joint police/military team was patrolling in the area when they observed a bar with patrons. While approaching the bar, the team observed the accused man placing an item underneath a section of the bar counter. It was retrieved by the police and found to be one H-2000 semi-automatic pistol; it was fitted with a magazine containing nine 9mm rounds of ammunition.

The teen was arrested and subsequently charged.

His court date is being finalised.
