Ten Haag officially confirmed as Man U. manager

After days of speculation and weeks of negotiations Manchester United has officially announced Erik Ten Haag as the club’s new manager.

Ten Haag, who was reportedly leading the list of potential candidates, which included PSG boss Mauricio Pochettino and former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane, was finally confirmed on Thursday morning.

The news, will be seen as a welcomed bit of optimism for the beleaguered club which has been experiencing a pain’s staking effort to rebuild, after over two years of disappointments and sub-par performances.

Man. U Football Director John Murtough, said: “During the past four years at Ajax, Erik has proved himself to be one of the most exciting and successful coaches in Europe, renowned for his team’s attractive, attacking football and commitment to youth.”

Adding that: “In our conversations with Erik leading up to this appointment, we were deeply impressed with his long-term vision for returning Manchester United to the level we want to be competing at, and his drive and determination to achieve that. “

Ten Haag for his part stated his plans to reform the once formidable Premier league club into competitive unit once more under his tenure.

“I know the history of this great club ad the passion of the fans, and I’m absolutely determined to develop a team capable of delivering the success they deserve ,” he said following his appointment.

The Ajax head taction will assume his new role as United’s boss at the end of the season, as the club desperately fights for a vital Champions’ League spot for next season, with just five games reaming.

Man U (54 points) is currently sixth in the standings, three points behind fifth and fourth placed Tottenham Hotspurs (57) and Arsenal (57) respectively.
